GCNG delegation attended the Global African Business Leaders Initiative Forum

During the working visit in New York organized within the framework of the UN General Assembly high-level events, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Georgia (GCNG) and the Chair of the Regional Network Council for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Salome Zurabishvili, and Senior Manager of Sustainability and Partnerships, Nino Kvantrishvili attended Global African Business Leaders Initiative Forum. Executive Director of Adjara Group hotels company and SDG Pioneer of Global Compact Network Georgia, Nino Kvernadze also was invited to attend the forum.

The two-day forum was designed to highlight opportunities on the continent where every sector of the economy from manufacturing to agriculture to services to finance is on a growth trajectory. The environment is primed for ambitious plays, for an infusion of creative and decisive moves for economic growth and sustainable development.

Global Africa Business Leaders Initiative Forum was opened by UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The forum was attended by the Presidents and Prime Ministers of African countries, leaders of multinational corporations, and other high-level representatives. On September 18-24, within the framework of the working visit delegation will attend UN Private Sector Forum, Concordia Annual Summit, SDG Investment Forum, SDG Summit USA, and HeforShe Summit.Also, high-level meetings will be held with the representatives of the UN Global Compact.

During the meetings parties will discuss the role of the private sector of Georgia in achieving SDGs, and the successful projects of the local network in terms of popularizing corporate sustainability in the country. The working visit is organized by Global Compact Network Georgia with the support from the Swedish Government.
